Batman: The Brave and the Bold is a cartoon series that features Batman teaming up with other super heroes of DC comics to solve a crime or foil villains. The series first debuted on cartoon network in November 2008. Each episode begins with an introduction that is not related to the rest of the episode, it’s more of a conclusion of a small adventure with some story to engage the audience. After the theme song and the opening credits a new story is introduced which is basically the main adventure of the episode. The villains keep changing in the first season it was Equinox, in the second and current season it is the alien Starro.
The basic theme of the series is about relationships and teamwork though the concept is the same, that of fighting fearsome criminals with stealth, and a limitless supply of cool gadgets to bring justice home. Batman primarily teams up with Superman, Wonder Woman, and Aquaman. In recent episodes he partners with the Green Arrow, Red, Tornado, Plastic Man, and many more. The super hero pair provides nonstop action and adventure with a bit of comedy too. The series is different than all previous ones since the caped super hero frequently travels outside the Gotham city limits, though the main action revolves around Gotham city.
Warner Bros released the first volume on DVD in 2009 with four episodes "Rise of the Blue Beetle!", "Terror on Dinosaur Island!", "Evil Under the Sea!", and "Invasion of the Secret Santas!” On August 17th, 2010 Warner Home Video released first thirteen episodes of the twenty-six episode series on DVD. They have recently announced the DVD release of volume 2 and 3 of the series.
